Challenges
Nutgy faced several strategic challenges in establishing itself within Iran’s competitive nut market.
First, the brand entered a space defined by longstanding traditions and conventional consumer behaviors. In such an environment, introducing a brand with a contemporary identity and modern design language required overcoming deep-rooted resistance among both end-users and wholesale buyers.
Second, the country’s economic conditions presented a major hurdle. Rising prices and decreasing purchasing power made nuts a less accessible commodity. Nutgy needed to address this affordability gap while still appealing to a broad customer base.
Third, shelf presence was crucial. With legacy brands dominating retail displays, Nutgy’s packaging had to create an immediate visual impact—demanding both memorability and shelf differentiation at first glance.
Additionally, maintaining the freshness and quality of the product was a technical priority. As a sensitive food item, nuts require packaging that protects against air and moisture. The solution had to combine functional excellence with strong visual appeal.
Finally, for the corporate gifting market, expectations were different: higher-quality materials, a more formal aesthetic, and longer-lasting packaging. A distinct packaging strategy was needed to serve this segment effectively.
Strategy
Platin Marketing & Communications Agency adopted a multi-layered strategy grounded in market research and consumer insight. The first key move was to develop smaller-sized packaging options—responding to both economic constraints and consumer demand for affordable, flexible choices. This allowed buyers to select packages aligned with their budget and usage preferences.
Nutgy’s entry into a traditional market was also treated as a strategic opportunity. By leveraging modern, user-centric design, the brand could set itself apart from the competition. The packaging was envisioned as a touchpoint to deliver a high-impact, contemporary brand experience—starting right at the shelf.
In parallel, social listening and audience behavior analysis revealed strong demand for nuts in the corporate gifting sector. Platin responded by designing a dedicated line of B2B packaging tailored for this purpose, allowing Nutgy to build a stronger presence in the organizational gifting landscape.
Design
Our core design goal at Platin was simple: stand out on the shelf. To achieve this, we used Nutgy’s signature colors—red, blue, and orange—within a bold and energetic graphic system. The design ensured visibility from a distance while clearly communicating essential product details, ingredients, and key benefits at a glance.
To reinforce Nutgy’s dynamic brand identity, we created custom visual elements and icons for each product. For example, a distinct symbol was developed for the cashew line, while the mixed nuts packaging featured a seamless pattern of related icons to enrich visual texture.

For the corporate gift line, we selected premium-quality metal tins to convey value and durability. Each was sealed in protective cellophane and equipped with a top vacuum seal to maintain product freshness over time and elevate perceived quality.
Results
The redesigned packaging brought about a significant shift in both Nutgy’s brand perception and customer experience. It successfully met the needs of a diverse customer base—from everyday consumers seeking accessible price points to organizations looking for high-end, presentable gifting options.
The bold visual language, intelligent use of color, and thoughtful layout of product information allowed Nutgy to stand out clearly among more traditional competitors—translating directly into stronger shelf visibility, higher consumer engagement, and increased sales.
The B2B packaging line also enabled Nutgy to form valuable connections with large businesses, securing a share of the corporate gifting market. The use of vacuum-sealed and metal containers not only preserved product freshness but also reinforced the brand’s premium and professional image.
Ultimately, the packaging system served as a clear expression of Nutgy’s identity: energetic, precise, modern, and uncompromising on quality. This transformation elevated Nutgy to the forefront of Iran’s nut industry, resonating with a broad range of consumers across generations.
